Comments:

Enjoyed living in several areas of the US; upon retiring, returned back to my favorite place, the beautiful Pacific northwest, Seattle area. When living in the northwest in the late 1960's, we built a four bedroom home on top of a huge hill where we had the view of the Olympic mountains to the west, Mt. Baker to the north, the Cascades to the east and also a great view of Mt. Rainier to the south. Upon returning to our former home, 40 years later, there is not one view to be seen of the mountains. Many homes have since been built on this
virgin land and all the yards have huge trees, so there are no mountain views to see. We built our home in 1970 for $21,000 and today the value is $400,000. Progress and time do change things!!. But now we live on a large piece of land in the town (city) of Maple Valley. It is over an acre, so we are mowing lawn and planting and growing flowers, fruit and vegetables.

December 2015, Gil passed and I downsized to a smaller home and yard. I moved in May of 2017 and am making a new beginning. I like the new coffee mug that I found, "Don't look back. You're not going that way".

School Story:

Thinking back, I always had the feeling of what I will refer to as segregation. We had the "town kids" and the "country kids". We did not have any late after school buses, which would have helped in allowing all kids to take advantage of the after school activities. Some country kids would be able to stay late whose parents could arrange transportation. I am so glad that the district solved the problem by scheduling late buses. I remember trying out for the Junior Class play and was very concerned about staying late and if I could drive to school so that I would be able to drive home afterwards. It probably was a good thing that I did not get a part in the play. But, Dad always saw to it that we always participated in all band activities. We had summer band concerts, plus the many football and basketball games that the band performed. And remember those summer band trips! Those were good times. BUT THOSE DAYS OF THE 50's and 60's ARE LONG GONE, but the memories are still with us.

How blessed to have a birthday! Was good seeing you and Mary last summer. Hope the health issues are under control and that you let Mary take good care of you. I am very thankful for my reasonable good health and my children and grandchildren are making sure I will be around when I am 103. LOL... So, that means taking care of this mass of nerves, veins, arteries, muscles and bones. But, that does mean taking some action. Hey...I don't think watch TV all day! I only watch a movie or two, every now and then. I am in the throws of doing plenty of yard work and I think I will join the seniors and learn to snowshoe. Good exercise for those approaching 80...take the walk slow and easy up in the mountain trails. Have a wonderful birthday, blessed with all the many blessings. See you this summer or maybe spring. I am thinking about driving back on April 13th to see a 4th great grandchild. We will see......Blessings,
love and take care of yourself. PS:. Let's plan an 80th birthday party in the summer of 2024. Anyone game to head it up? I know..I can dream, can't I.

Hi Barb....Happy birthday....Hope the winter is going good for you. It seems that maybe you were having a colder winter...more than usual. Our northwest winter has been too cold for me....too many days in the 30's and 40's. Yep, I am a whimp now when it gets colder and windy. Hope to see you this summer again. Blessings each and every day to you.
All good is well with me. I am planning on driving back to Minnesota April 13th, not exactly confirmed, but Jolene wants to visit her new granddaughter which is being born in March at Detroit Lakes.

Happy birthday, my friend. You are having some very cold weather and so are we. It is 21 degrees with a wind chill of 5. We don't usually have a wind chill factor here
Call me a whimp now. I could never handle a MN blizzard or a -50 wind chill. ? A very blessed holy Christmas to you. Nan

Happy birthday Charles. Times are good in the PNW. I have lived here for 19 years and still love the beauty of this state.
Have you talked with my brother, Jerry. He now lives in Bemidji close to the hospital. He does have Parkinsons disease and is doing the best he can. Take care. Blessings to you.

Happy Birthday Nancy..... I really can not imagine living in northern Minnesota, especially with all the cold and snow that the state got this year. Our Spring is late....we finally got 70 degrees and sunshine this week. I will be making the trip back again this summer and hopefully will get to visit with classmates again. This year has really been sad for many of us with the passing of so many classmates, lower and upper. Enjoy your birthday all month long now.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
I pray all is well with you and your family.
Everything is fine here in the Seattle area.
Flowers are budding, but will probably freeze this week, for the temperatures will be getting down in the teens. No doubt you havr had some cold winter days. Love to all. Is this the big year of 80 years?
