Pete was like a member of our family and will be missed much! It was great to reconnect with his family again at the funeral.
I remembered a story my dad Willy Parks shared about Pete, Dale Prichard and himself. Not sure what year but dad got a speck of dirt in his eye and had rubbed his eye on the way to school. The teacher sent him to the nurse as his eye was really red. The nurse declared it pink eye and had sent Dad home for 3 days but not before he told Pete to rub his eye and when he got sent to the nurse tell her he hung out with Willy and Pete returned the favor and told Dale to do the same and the 3 of them went fishing for 3 days together.
When I was like 6 I told my Mom & Dad I was going to marry Pete as he always doted on me at all family functions and activities.
I didn't like milk so one summer a week prior to the fair Pete made a deal with me that if I drank my glass of milk with dinner however many evenings I did that he would buy me a cotton candy at the fair.- I had 7 coming by the week of the fair. Needless to say he only had to buy me two as I was two sick of cotton candy to eat more.
Pete gave me a summer job when I was in like 3rd grade riding along with him and helping fill gum/ball candy machines. My pay was I could choose where we had lunch and whatever I wanted to eat and he would buy plus he gave me like $5 for the day and all the candy/gumballs I wanted to have.
Our close relationship continued... after highschool I lived in town with his family as it was in walking distance of my summer jobs after graduation.
He and I would stop and talk every time we met up around town for at least 20 min's of so and catch up in later years it was good he had his scooter or automated cart in a store to sit. He would get messages to me through a lady friends facebook who lived in his building.
I will miss him greatly.
Sorry Tom Hope your bday was wonderful and here's to a wonderful year as well.
Sad to have lost another classmate-Rox! I was able to attend the visitation and drop a card.
