School Story:
Actually happened a long time after graduating and involved Mr Schlattman. My first born daughter, Kali was two and was a rather slow learner (she still hadn't really learned to speak). I visited the school one day to see Mr S. I had a special relationship with him as he taught my Father, taught me, and taught my sisters. Quite a career. When I asked him when he was going to retire, he said only after he taught my children. Then he cancelled his morning classes, sat down with my daughter and for the next 3 hours sat with her and taught her to say her first ..."hippopotomus". The glow of his eyes and huge smile is a memory I'll never forget. The next year, true to his word, he retired. I miss you Mr S.
