St. Joseph's Hospital....Brainerd, apl of these offices and retired from IMCEA in 2003.

Enjoyed living in several areas of the US; upon retiring, returned back to my favorite place, the beautiful northwest, Seattle area. When living in the northwest in the late 1960's, we built a four bedroom home on top of a huge hill where we had the view of the Olympic mountains to the west, Mt. Baker to the north, the Cascades to the east and also a great view of Mt. Rainier to the south. Upon returning to our former home, 40 years later, there is not one view to be seen of the mountains. Many homes have since been built on this
virgin land and all the yards have huge trees, so there are no mountain views to see. We built our home in 1070 for $21,000 and today the value is $400,000. Progress and time do change things!!. But now we live on a large piece of land in the town (city) of Maple Valley. It is over an acre, so we are mowing lawn and planting and growing flowers, fruit and vegetables.

December 2015, Gil passed and I downsized to a smaller home and yard. I moved in May of 2017 and am making a new beginning. I like the new coffee mug that I found, "Don't look back. You're not going that way".

School Story:

Thinking back, I always had the feeling of what I will refer to as segregation. We had the "town kids" and the "country kids". We did not have any late after school buses, which would have helped in allowing all kids to take advantage of the after school activities. Some country kids would be able to stay late whose parents could arrange transportation. I am so glad that the district solved the problem by scheduling late buses. I remember trying out for the Junior Class play and was very concerned about staying late and if I could drive to school so that I would be able to drive home afterwards. It probably was a good thing that I did not get a part in the play. But, Dad always saw to it that we always participated in all band activities. We had summer band concerts, plus the many football and basketball games that the band performed. And remember those summer band trips! Those were good times. BUT THOSE DAYS OF THE 50's and 60's ARE LONG GONE, but the memories are still with us.

Have always wondered what it would be like to have a birthday so close to Christmas. Maybe it meant "double the presents!". In a family of 8, I bet not! But now you can have double the celebrating....Christmas and birthday and both are privileges to be celebrating. Enjoy the crisp weather. We are having a "cold snap" as I call it, for it was 18 above at my home this morning...Next week, rain and 40 to 50 degrees. Thank goodness.....A blessed day to you......

Think of you often and hope all is well. Happy Birthday to a special cousin on the family tree. Come visit the PNW sometime. Not now though for the weatherman is still predicting strong winds for Oregon and Washington coasts. Had a tornado west of Portland near Seaside last evening....Not good. Love and Smiles....Nan

I have been busy enjoying the life of my first great granddaughter, Lexi, born January 18th, 2016. She is now 8 months and such a living doll and a very good, beautiful baby to love....What else can I say? I have a certificate given to me which entitles me "the right to brag"
