Livin' the dream in sunny central Florida. Having been raised in Park Rapids, I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the area, even after our family left.
Little League baseball with Mac McDowell and Chuck Frisby, the skating rink (Mr. Weeks?)...both behind the school, living on Fish Hook Lake, woods behind us and water in front of us was a GREAT way to grow up.
I learned to play golf at both Brookside (is that still there?) and Headwaters BEFORE it was an 18 holer. Actually got pretty good at the game. I played scratch golf and better for 10 years. Loved The Aquarium, Mac's Stockade, the beach behind the Methodist church and Kings.
Our neighbors were Darrill and Jackie Larison, Chuck and Carol Frisby, Don and Bea Hagen, Phil and Gladys Megorden, wow...a teacher's kid, growing up with other teachers kids.
All in all it's been a pretty good life, with basic values of small town Americanna like P.R. offered, how can a guy go wrong.
