Welcome aboard, Ralph....soon to be 82 and hopefully, going strong. Make sure you inform me if and when you get back to Park Rapids. I'll get a few classmates together and we'll have lunch.

The Saturday morning breakfast gang, meeting faithfully at 8 am every Saturday. It started out with Mac and Dick Carpenter. I joined them around the year 2000, with Jim Henry (class of '54) joining a couple of years later. Roger Peterson (who will be 96 in January), Bob Keezer and Karl Carlson then entered the group a few years later. Mel Benton (who passed away at age 91 in 2015) joined us in 2009 and last, but not least, Pastor Roger Olson came on board.
It was quite a crew and we solved the majority of the world's problems on a weekly basis. Lotsa laughs and a "few" arguments, usually starting when someone made a comment and Mac disagreed. When the dust settled, Mac was usually correct.
Being involved with the All School Reunion, I would mention to Mac that so and so from a class in the 50's was coming to the reunion. Not only did Mac remember the former student, but he told me where he/she lived and what the Dad did for a living. An amazing memory to say the least.
Well, the Saturday crew is dwindling, with Mac and Mel Benton gone and Roger Peterson has moved to St Louis Park. Jim Henry left the group about a year ago, Dick and Bob Keezer are snow birds, so the crew will be down to 3 for the winter.
We miss you Mac and always will, but you are in a better place now. Thanks for serving our country, for being a 73 year member of our American Legion and for being my friend.
